Job Title: Shipping & Receiving Supervisor
Job DescriptionThe Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is tasked with managing the daily operations of the Shipping and Receiving Departments. This role requires leadership in overseeing the flow of goods, ensuring the accurate and efficient shipment of products, and coordinating with other departments to meet customer deadlines.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate work activities of Shipping Clerks.
- Review and process shipping orders to determine parts and quantities to be shipped, ensuring accuracy in all shipping documents such as packing lists, ASN, and BOL.
- Oversee the packaging and labeling of products, ensuring compliance with diverse customer requirements and shipping standards.
- Manage logistics by scheduling in-house drivers and coordinating with external contractors for LTL and FTL shipments.
- Interface and communicate with other departments to ensure customer deadlines are met.
- Interview, hire, and train new employees.
- Assign tasks to workers and specify methods of coordinating workflow to meet shipping schedules.
- Conduct job performance evaluations and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Analyze root causes for problems and defects and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in determining the direction and philosophy for the company.
- Manage timecards and time off requests (PTO) in the company HRIS system.
- Ensure all employees are working safely and accurately.
- Report any safety incidents accurately and promptly within a 2-hour period.
Essential Skills- Minimum five years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace, with at least three years in a lead role.
- Experience in a variable, fast-paced, and high unit shipping environment.
- Strong knowledge of shipping systems and logistics, including FedEx, UPS, and DHL.
- Ability to cycle count and experience with physical inventory.
- Ability to identify problems and issues, assess them using standard procedures, and make sound decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in presenting information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Mathematical skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Forklift operator certification preferred.
- Computer software skills in ERP systems, MS Office programs, and general data entry.
- Has a sense of urgency with a hands-on attitude.
- Ability to periodically adjust schedule for high volume periods, such as end of month.

Work Environment
The position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule, from 8 AM to 4 PM. Physical demands include regularly talking, hearing, sitting, standing, and using hands to handle or feel. The role frequently requires reaching, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Occasionally, there is exposure to outside weather conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level is usually moderate, and employees must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities are required, including close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
