Job Description:

The Monterey Jet Center opened its doors in September 1997 and is the inspiration of a group of dedicated pilots and aircraft owners.  They recognized the need for an FBO that would provide visitors and residents with the level of world class service they expect from the Monterey Peninsula.

The Line Service Manager is responsible for overseeing all line service operations, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality servicing of aircraft. This includes managing a team of line service technicians, coordinating aircraft movements, fueling, towing, and customer service. The Line Service Manager will ensure compliance with safety protocols, maintain equipment, and provide excellent customer service to ensure a positive experience for our clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Includes the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Manage a team of line service technicians, providing training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels to meet the operational demands of the FBO.
  • Lead by example, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and excellent customer service. 

Aircraft Handling:

  • Oversee the proper and safe execution of aircraft movements, including towing, parking, and marshalling.
  • Ensure aircraft fueling operations are conducted efficiently and in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Monitor the maintenance and cleanliness of the ramp, hangars, and all line service equipment. 

Safety and Compliance:

  • Enforce compliance with all applicable safety and operational procedures as outlined by the FAA, OSHA, and company policies.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for line service staff.
  • Perform routine inspections and ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of equipment, reporting any issues to management.

Administrative Duties:

  • Maintain accurate records of fueling operations, aircraft movements, and safety procedures.
  • Assist in budgeting for line service operations, including managing fuel inventory and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Prepare and submit reports on line service performance and incident reports when necessary.
Job Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree in aviation management or a related field is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in line service operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations, aircraft handling, and safety procedures.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to operate a variety of ground service equipment, including tugs, fuel trucks, and de-icing equipment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, based on operational needs.

  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to sit or stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to move quickly, including running or jogging.
  • Will be required to climb ladders with fuel hose.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds (opening and closing hangar doors).
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.  The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electric shock.  The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
