Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Associate Structures Mechanic to join our C-17 team in San Antonio, TX. This role demands regular and predictable attendance and a commitment to excellence in structural modification and repair.
Responsibilities
- Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas.
- Locate blind holes necessary for installation of new structural items to existing structures.
- Perform efforts associated with sealing, painting, shimming, and preserving structures according to standard repair processes.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, and process specifications to execute structural modification and repair.
- Utilize tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level modification and repair of structural parts.
- Troubleshoot and repair aircraft mechanical components, replacing parts as necessary.
- Modify and repair aircraft sheet metal/structures and determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
- Employ aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes, and sheers.
- Access aircraft data via computer systems and initiate online parts and discrepancy requests.
- Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits required for assigned work.
- Ascend and descend vertical work ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift loads of approximately 35 pounds.
- Ensure the working environment is safe for access and job task performance using Hazardous Energy and Lock Out/Tag systems.
- Collaborate with other team members to meet cost and schedule targets.
- Obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, requiring U.S. Citizenship, with an interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance post-start.
- Pass an assessment at the end of the training cycle.
- Comply with SA Site Tool and FOD procedures.
Essential Skills- 4+ years of experience working with non-porous metals such as aluminum, titanium, and stainless steel.
- 4+ years of experience with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures.
- 4+ years of experience using structures hand tools like drills, pancake adapters, counter sink cages, hole finders, and rivet guns.
- 4+ years of experience with heavy structures: locating, drilling, countersinking, and fastening to aircraft.
- Ability to work variable shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Experience in aircraft heavy maintenance (C-17 or Depot Level).
- Experience working with titanium aircraft structures.
- Ability to operate a forklift, mobile crane, and electric powered elevating equipment.

Work Environment
The role requires variable shifts based on business needs, which includes both scheduled and unscheduled overtime, as well as potential weekend and holiday work. Training, either on-the-job or formal classroom, is essential for assignment completion. Dress code is determined by the nature of the work and compliance with safety standards.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.17 - $40.17/hr.
