Job Description:
DPP is seeking an Instrumentation Engineering Technician for an opportunity with our client in the civic aviation industry.
 
Position description:
  • As an Instrumentation Engineering Technician, you will be accountable for fabrication and application of sensors to test hardware, routing of leads, termination of sensors, and setup and operation of measurement and recording systems. 
Minimum requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience in anything foundational to this role: Electronics work, MP work, some type of aerospace/adjacent; would like to experience as a technician (up to Sr level who wants to finish up with a couple years of contracting) and can hit the ground running and help with workload
  • Used to being in a professional workplace
  • Responsibilities will go a little further than the standard technician role
  • In order to be considered for this opportunity, you must be eligible to obtain and maintain security clearance, which requires USA Citizenship 
Education/years of experience:
  • In lieu of a degree, 5+ years of experience working in technical roles
  • Associates degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Electronics or Aviation with 3+ years’ experience working in technical roles
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Electronics or Aviation with 1+ years’ experience working in technical roles
  • Experience with Gas Turbine Power Systems 
Education equivalency:
  • 4-year technology-based degree (mechanical, electrical, etc.) is preferred
  • OR, 2-year degree in STEM surrounding engineering
  • OR, AMP or aerospace
  • OR, Military experience with electronics or AMP 
Key accountabilities:
  • Typical sensors include strain gages, thermocouples, thermal paints, thermal crystals, pressure tubing and transducers, accelerometers, tip clearance and blade tip timing measurement systems, aerothermodynamic rakes and probe assemblies, and signal transmission devices such as slip rings and telemetry systems
  • Work includes: fabrication of the sensors and systems, sensor application technique development, design and fabrication of simple fixtures or test apparatus, inventory and chemical management, providing assistance during engine assembly and test, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining measurement systems
  • Provide engineering design support; coordinating with team members to develop sensor application techniques, installation and routing plans
  • Write department procedures as necessary to improve efficiency and capture lessons learned, as well as help train and develop less experienced technicians
  • May work independently, be part of a team performing like tasks, or act as a specialist in a particular area depending on experience level and complexity of the task
  • May travel for off-site instrumentation and test support and represent the company while working with the customer
  • A practical skills evaluation will be given after sufficient progression in the hiring process 
Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Team Leadership experience
  • Instrumentation sensor application experience, ideally with high temperature and/or rotating sensors.
  • FAA Powerplant or Airframe & Powerplant licenses
  • Machining, soldering, welding, brazing, avionics, or electronics experience
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal; good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
  • Understanding of basic mathematics, measurement systems and scales
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15 of the time 
Work schedule:
  • Work location: Onsite
  • Duration: 12 months
  • 9/80 Schedule: Over a 2-week period, 9 days out of 10 – M-TH are 9 hour days – Friday worked is 8 hours, then every other Friday is a day off
  • Terms: W2 position
