Job Description:
DPP is seeking a Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) Engineer for a fully remote role for candidates living in the Eastern time zone.

Position overview:
  • This role focuses on managing and deploying Windows operating systems and software across the agency’s computers using Microsoft enterprise tools like MECM/SCCM and MDT.
  • Ideal candidates have strong experience with Windows imaging, software distribution, endpoint security, and automation in medium-to-large enterprise environments.
  • This is an IT Network Engineering project with a focus on Endpoint Management and Configuration.
  • This role is with an IT-centric law enforcement government agency with a medium-sized work environment focused on service-level results. 
Daily duties and responsibilities:
  • Working under limited supervision, administer, design, deploy, maintain, secure, monitor, and support the agency’s infrastructure.
  • Ensure reliable software distribution, patching, reporting, and operating system deployment (OSD).
  • Analyze agency software versioning to meet business needs and lead the implementation of software specifications aligned to those needs.
  • Configure application deployments for endpoint devices to meet technical requirements.
  • Improve endpoint compliance, security posture, and operational efficiency based on technical requirements.
  • Monitor performance of the MECM/SCCM infrastructure, review event logs, analyze system behavior, and perform routine security practices as required.
  • Provide operational support, technical documentation, and knowledge transfer.
  • Update MDT and MECM/SCCM environments with required security controls.
  • Participate in enterprise administration, planning, installation, maintenance, security, monitoring, and support of endpoint computers, software deployments, and peripheral devices.
  • Maximize security controls using industry best practices.
  • Support and adhere to established change management processes.
  • Maintain awareness of security compliance change processes.
  • Identify risks and communicate those risks to the CIO and IT team.
  • Develop technical documentation in accordance with agency policies, CJIS security guidance, and state security standards. 
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • 5 or more years of experience administering enterprise MECM/SCCM and MDT environments.
  • 5 or more years of experience with Windows operating systems, software deployment, and image deployment and refresh.
  • Experience developing and implementing multiple operating system images.
  • Five or more years of experience with Software Update Points (SUP) and WSUS integrations, including SQL Server configurations.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Entra ID, Microsoft 365 administration, Microsoft Intune (co-management), and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE), including discovery methods (AD systems, users, groups, and hybrid Entra ID/AD environments. 
Preferred knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Expert-level knowledge of Windows infrastructure, logging, and event handling.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of client settings, deployment strategies, and third-party software support.
  • Expert knowledge of compliance settings, baselines, and client health.
  • Expert-level experience with PowerShell scripting, logon scripts, and logon optimization.
  • Expert-level experience with automated deployments, including operating systems, drivers, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and task sequences. 
Preferred certifications and training:
  • Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals
  • Microsoft Azure Administrator
  • CompTIA Network+ 
Additional knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Understanding of hardware and software inventory processes.
  • Skilled experience with MECM/SCCM hierarchy, including CAS, primary site, and secondary site configurations.
  • Experience with boundary groups, site systems, distribution points, and content strategy.
  • Ability to communicate directly with IT staff, business users, and vendor partners.
  • Good understanding of high-availability environments.
  • Strong understanding of hardware platforms with the ability to troubleshoot, test, deploy, and validate global issue resolutions.
  • Advanced knowledge of DNS, DHCP, PXE, and related protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and effective time management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to comply with IT policies, standard operating procedures, disaster recovery, business continuity, and incident response requirements.
  • Good understanding of image testing, issue tracking, sign-off processes, and industry-standard SOE and imaging tools.
