As a Training Solution Analyst, you will be critical to the successful delivery of the programme, collaborating within matrix organisation, with multi-disciplinary teams within Engineering

The role:

You’ll work in a matrix organisation and report operationally through OMNIA Training and functionally through the OMNIA Enterprise Architect. Ultimately, you’ll work for the British Army, championing innovation, and helping shape the future of military collective training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse complex datasets and translate findings into actionable insights aligned with Army training objectives.
- Design and deliver clear, meaningful visualisations and reports that support operational decision-making.
- Develop and maintain data models, metrics, and metadata structures to improve training analytics.
- Maintain and govern data dictionaries to ensure consistency and shared understanding across domains.
- Collaborate with data architects and engineers to ensure analytical outputs align with enterprise architecture and platform standards.
- Support the evolution of data architectures by contributing analytical requirements and feedback.
- Communicate analytical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders to inform strategy and operational improvements.
- Investigate, learn and promote new technologies, driving innovation and best-in-class capability for the delivered products and services.
- Conduct exploratory analysis and limited prototyping to evaluate emerging data techniques relevant to training analytics.
- Ensure analytics processes comply with security, governance, and regulatory requirements.
- Apply architecture principles and security controls within analytical workflows.
- Author and maintain documentation to ensure analytical processes are repeatable, auditable, and scalable.
- Utilise the Omnia Data Lakehouse platform effectively, providing insight into performance optimisation and alignment with training needs

We’re looking for a curious, detail-oriented Training Solution Analyst who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about unlocking the value of data to improve Army training outcomes, with a strong ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate insights clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. They should be comfortable working across hybrid cloud environments, collaborating with engineers and architects, and contributing to the evolution of innovative, secure, and scalable solutions. A proactive mindset, eagerness to explore emerging technologies, and commitment to data integrity and governance are essential. This role requires a systems-thinking mindset, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to work across engineering teams in a complex and evolving environment.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 2+ years’ experience of Military Training solutions, particularly integration of COTS with Enterprise Systems.
- Ability to identify data sources and design quantitative analysis pipelines to achieve Business Goals.
- Experience working within large-scale, secure data environments and contributing to digital transformation initiatives.
- Strong understanding of Requirements analysis and decomposition.
- Working knowledge of data Training Solutions, architecture principles and experience collaborating with multi-disciplined engineering teams in Agile delivery environments.
- Experience evaluating options against constraints, risk, Value for Money (VfM) and MOD standards.
- Experience of developing from the ground up Business Cases aligned to the Programme Service, Goals and regulatory standards such as HM Treasury 5‑Case Model.
- Proficient in Requirements definition, refinement and decomposition (workshops, interviews, OIWG inputs).
- Experience producing scoping studies, feasibility assessments, trial plans and acceptance criteria.
- Strong understanding of Enterprise Architecture principles (re‑use, standards, cloud‑first, secure by design)
- Experienced in use of SparxEA, ArchiMate 3.1, JIRA, DOORS and Agile Framework.
- Experience building dashboards and visualisations using Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent BI tools.
- Advanced Excel skills for analytical modelling and reporting.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS), particularly in hybrid data environments.
- Experience working with data Lakehouse technologies (e.g. Delta Lake, Databricks, or similar platforms).
- Security cleared or ability to obtain (SC or above).
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related discipline (MSc desirable but not essential), or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Knowledge or experience of Army doctrine and analysing training performance data and metrics and Performance Indicators.
- Experience of gap analysis across capability, service, and DLOD.
- Experience of root‑cause analysis for service shortfalls.
- Understanding of strategic alignment, benefits, risk and cost modelling.
- Experience of Stakeholder engagement and facilitation.
- Familiar producing risk assessments & safety case inputs.
- Knowledge of Human Factors and user feedback capture.
- Experience with additional BI and analytics platforms (e.g. Looker, Elastic Stack, or similar visualisation and observability tools).
- Knowledge of data protection and compliance frameworks (e.g. UK GDPR, Data Protection Act, or comparable regulatory standards).
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g. Microsoft Certified Data Analyst Associate, AWS/Azure Data Fundamentals, DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), or equivalent).
- Familiarity with training systems, simulation data, or performance analytics
