JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Director of Trade Compliance, the incumbent is responsible for assisting the Sr. Import Export Specialist in maintaining trade compliance for the company as it relates to the importation and exporting of parts. Also, it pertains to a variety of domestic / international related functions, as well as customer/ supplier compliance controls.
This includes but not limited to exports governed by various regulatory depts. such as the US Dept. of State (ITAR); US Dept. of Commerce (EAR) and US Dept. Census as well as import regulation governed by the US Dept. of Homeland Security; US Customs and Border Protection. Other Partnering government agencies may include:
FDA Food & Drug Administration, FCC Federal Communication Commission, ATF Alcohol Tobacco
Firearms & Explosives and TSA Transportation Security Administration. Incumbent is responsible for assisting the Manager with monitoring and checking various Trade Compliance topics.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
Under the of direction of the Trade Compliance Manager the incumbent is responsible for assisting the Trade Compliance dept., DFJ Legal, and various other department requests to include, but not limited to the following:
- Research and classify parts from various reports for all DFJ locations, MRO & Completions and Midway.
- Research and classify parts for both import & export compliance – determining accurate ECCN, ITAR and HTS numbers
- Monthly review of selected import and export shipments for accuracy and risk assessment as prescribed under CBP CTPAT Trade Compliance program formerly Importer Self-Assessment program and DFJs export compliance program both programs under ISO standards.
- Assist annually prepare and distribute CTPAT supply chain security letters to suppliers and service providers.
- Assist in preparation of quarterly report to Customs of discrepancies under the PSC- Post Summary Correction program.
- Maintain SAP & external (excel) data bases with current HTS and ECCN numbers.
- Assist in performing due diligence of individuals and entities in our restricted parties compliance subscription
source when requested by Legal, various other departments all DFJ locations, MRO & Completions and Midway.
- Assist in development and implementation for the automation of compliance functions.
- Review relevant partnering government agency (PGA) requirements that include but not limited to FDA, FCC, ATF and APHIS.
- Conduct audits on import and export process and paperwork.
- Conduct audits on import duty rates and accuracies of the HTS data bases.
- Work directly with hired US Customs brokers that handle DFJ importation on our behalf.
- Conduct monthly audits as it relates to Customer Service Spares ECCN requirements.
- Monthly LOU / RDC export order audit review.
- Review daily DA invoices and Credit notes as it relates to Import entries.
- Maintenance of EDM – Descartes Export Documentation Manager
- Conduct supplier, vendor and customer auditing of RPS due diligence as required pertaining to trade compliance functions for any domestic and international issues.
- Review Daily Dynamic Batch Screening Results received from Descartes & Dow Jones all DFJ locations, MRO & Completions and Midway.
- Maintain the list of active suppliers-vendors and customers within the Descartes and Dow Jones file database.
- Review and communicate yearly for updated supplier-vendor and customer list for Descartes & Dow Jones from DFJ Customer service and Service centers as well as Midway facilities.
- Perform DFJ TEB CS monthly audits for both Import & Export orders, entries and ECCN verification audit for various Spares transactions.
- Assist SR. Import Export Compliance Specialists with the annually preparedness and distribution of CTPAT supply chain security O365 Forms to suppliers and service providers.
- Add new supplier-vendors as well as any amendments/changes made to previous supplier-vendors within the Descartes files.
- Removal of DFJ-TEB suppliers-vendors provided by DFJ Materials Dept. if communicated no longer doing business within Descartes.
- Daily RPS requests from various all DFJ locations, MRO & Completions and Midway
- Daily DFJ MRO Service Center Corridor Work Order RPS (Restricted Party Screening) checks to ensure work can be performed by various DFJ service center facilities (MLB, SUA, RNO, LIT,BRZ)
- Daily review of DFJ TEB Spares export documentation compliance alerts, elevate if risks returned.
- Assist with communicating any risk alerts received to all respective DFJ locations (CS&SC) including LIT completion center and Midway facilities to ensure the activities are blocked/not used when needed.
- Further investigate RPS-Restricted Party Screening alerts for supplier, vendors, and customers for DFJ locations (CS&SC) including LIT and Midway facilities.
- Assist with monthly audit review of randomly selected BP supplier, vendors, customers regarding due diligence for accuracy and risk assessment as prescribed under DFJs Import/Export Trade compliance via Descartes tool.
- Assist Sr. Import Export Compliance Specialist in providing training and support for new hires and other
- Other duties may be assigned by management to meet the company or business objective on an as needed basis.
NON-PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Highschool graduate or Equivalent Work Experience
- Working knowledge of software that prepares/research required documents in compliance for both import and export regulations.
- Working knowledge of various US Regulations, such as US Customs Regulations, Bureau of Industry & Security Export Regulations, International Traffic & Arms Regulations, etc.
- Intermediate level proficiency in the use of PC Windowss business software (Microsoft O365 Preferred).
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, written and verbally, with both internal and external customers
ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Familiar with aviation components
- Knowledge of Importing and Exporting procedures and Trade Compliance functions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

- Available for off hour Trade compliance coverage

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position typically falls between $$64,426.00 and $86,031.00 per year. This position is not eligible for overtime. Note, the final compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of relevant experience, Falcon-specific experience, relevant education/certifications, geographic location, and shift.
